DH45 Diesel hydraulic locomotive

Current status - IN OPERATION

DH45 Diesel hydraulic locomotive at Stanthorpe.
DH45 Diesel locomotive at Stanthorpe in 2016.

This 40 ton diesel locomotive was built in 1966 by Walkers Ltd., Maryborough and spent its working life for Queensland Railways as a versatile all needs locomotive.

The DH class was quite a successful locomotive in shunting yards. The loco has been leased by its owner to the Southern Downs Steam Railway since 2015.

It is currently used for hauling SDSR's tourist train when required for fire bans, steam locomotive unavailability, and even for the occasional scheduled service.

It is used regularly for shunting within the Warwick Yard.

It would be one of only a couple of this class still operating on Queensland Rail main lines.
